Joint Resolution on Peace and Unification of the Korean peninsula submitted by the Republic of Korea and Japanese Delegation.

Noting with satisfaction the process for peace and unification between the two Koreas that was launched through the inter-Korean summit meeting held in Pyongyang in June 2000,
Recognizing the newly established framework of continuous dialogue, exchange and cooperation between the two Koreas,
Strongly supporting the continued efforts by the Republic of Korea(ROK) and the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to reduce tension and establish lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula,
Hopeful that inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation will contribute to peace and unification on the Korean Peninsula and, further, to peace and stability throughout Asia and the Pacific,
Welcoming the participation of the DPRK in the 7th meeting of ASEAN Regional Forum(ARF) held in July 2000,
Taking note of the "G8 statement on Korean Peninsula" adopted in G8 Summit Meeting in July 2000,
Taking note of the "Seoul Declaration for Peace on the Korean Peninsula" adopted in ASEM Leaders´ Meeting in October 2000,
Recalling the resolution A/RES/55/11 adopted by the UN General Assembly in October 2000,
1. Welcomes and supports the Inter-Korean Summit and the Joint Declaration that was adopted between the ROK and the DPRK on 15 June 2000;
2. Expresses its hope that inter-Korean exchange and cooperation will continue to grow and develop in many areas, and fully supports the ongoing efforts to encourage parliamentary exchange between the two Koreas through an Inter-Korean Parliamentary Meeting;
3. Welcomes the recent steps taken by the DPRK towards dialogue with the international community, including its participation in multilateral dialogue and forum, and encourages the DPRK to continue to take such steps;
4. Calls upon the DPRK to respond constructively to international concerns over security, non-proliferation, humanitarian and human rights issues;
5. Calls upon all APPF members to support the reconciliatory and cooperative efforts between the two Koreas to contribute to global peace and stability through national unification; and
6. Would welcome the membership of the DPRK to the APPF, should it wish to join the Forum.
