  3. REGISTRATION

    All delegations of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum are kindly requested to send their list of participants including accompanying persons attending the 6th APPF Annual Meeting at the earliest opportunity and no later than 1 December 1997, using the enclosed Registration Form. The Registration Form can be mailed, sent by facsimile or via E-mail to the following address:

    Upon arrival in Seoul, delegates will be required to register at the Registration Desk located in the lobby of the Hotel Lotte. The Registration Desk will be open on Tuesday, January 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

    Upon registration, delegates will be given a bag containing documents and information relevant to the Annual Meeting.

    All delegates and other registered persons will also be provided with an identification badge at the time of registration. It is important that these badges be worn at all times. This will facilitate admission to the conference hall and also assist in the recognition of the participants for security purposes.

     

  4. VISA

All delegates and accompanying persons should have a valid passport for entrance to the Republic of Korea. The list below indicates countries which require visas to the Republic of Korea:

Commonwealth of Australia, Negara Brunei Darussalam, Kingdom of Cambodia, Republic of Chile, People´s Republic of China, Fiji*, Republic of Indonesia, Japan, Lao People´s Democratic Republic, Federated States of Micronesia, Mongolian Republic**, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Panama, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Philippines***, the Russian Federation, United States of America, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

* Holders of diplomatic or official passports do not need a visa for a length of stay under 15 days.

**Holders of diplomatic or official passports do not need a visa for a length of stay under 30 days.

***Holders of diplomatic or official passports do not need visas

 

    1. ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

    In order to ensure proper arrival assistance and transportation to and from Kimpo International Airport, all participants are kindly requested to provide sufficient arrival and departure information including dates, time, and flight numbers on the enclosed Registration Form. Should changes in arrival and departure information occur, please notify the Annual Meeting Secretariat of such changes at the earliest opportunity.

    Protocol officers will assist with arrival formalities and transfers to the Hotel. This service will also operate at the end of the Annual Meeting to assist participants with transfers from the Hotel to Kimpo International Airport.

     

    1. ACCIDENT, MEDICAL AND LUGGAGE INSURANCE

    Personal accidents, medical care, luggage and currency loss will be the responsibility of individual participants. It is therefore recommended that participants take out appropriate insurance before their departure

     

    1. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

Preliminary block bookings have been made at the Hotel Lotte for the participants of the 6th APPF Annual Meeting. The Hotel Lotte offers guests a blend of traditional Korean hospitality with the highest international standards. In the heart of downtown Seoul, facing City Hall and within walking distance of business, shopping and entertainment districts, Hotel Lotte offers a variety of attractions.

Each delegation is responsible for the reservation of the appropriate number of rooms by sending the enclosed Registration Form to the Annual Meeting Secretariat at the earliest opportunity and no later than December 1, 1997.

Accommodation rates in Korean currency are as follows:

  • Double, Twin (Main Building) W150,000

  • Double, Twin (New Wing) W180,000

  • Corner Suite (Main Building) W189,000

  • Corner Suite (New Wing) W290,000

(Tax and service charge are included)

T US$1 = W901.08 (This basic rate, as of 20 October 1997, is subject to fluctuations in accordance with the daily foreign market)

    1. ACCOMPANYING PERSONS

    Delegates are welcomed to bring their accompanying persons to the 6th Annual Meeting in Seoul. An Accompanying Persons Programme will be arranged during the Meeting. Further information will be available upon registration in the Hotel.

     

    1. LANGUAGE

    The official language of the 6th APPF Annual Meeting is English. Simultaneous interpretation into and from English and Korean will be provided for all the meetings. Additional interpretation channels will be available upon request which can be done to the Annual Meeting Secretariat by no later than December 1, 1997.

     

    1. BANKING SERVICES, CURRENCY AND CREDIT CARDS

    Most major international currencies can be exchanged at the Hotel or local banks, and major credit cards are widely accepted in the Republic of Korea.

     

    1. INCOMING CORRESPONDENCE AND POSTAL SERVICES

    All incoming mail or facsimile messages for delegates should be directed to them personally at the Hotel. The Hotel facsimile number is (822) 452-6867.

     

    1. LUGGAGE LABELS

    Luggage labels have been provided to facilitate arrival formalities. Participants are kindly requested to place a label on each piece of luggage.

     

    1. CLIMATE

    The average daily temperature in January is about –3.4°C. The average snow fall is about 22.9 mm. It is advised that participants bring warm clothing and non-slip shoes.

     

    1. EXPENSES

    In accordance with the APPF procedures, travel and accommodation expenses will be borne by the participants. The host country will be responsible for expenses related to the meeting and the provision of local transportation.

     

    1. DOCUMENTATION

All participating delegations are kindly requested to forward to the Annual Meeting Secretariat a copy of the draft resolutions, all theme papers and written comments to be submitted to the Annual Meeting no later than Saturday, 15 November 1997 and the Registration Form no later than Monday, 1 December 1997.
