The Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum Sixth Annual Meeting,
Convinced that in this rapidly shrinking world, there is a need for "globalization" and "internationalization" of education hence the need to improve the standards and quality of education;
Mindful that many international organizations have been making constant efforts to develop quality educational facilities for regional needs aimed to increase international understanding and cooperation through the comprehensive education of the youth;
Aware that measures to improve the standards and quality of education must include giving scholarships and grants, establishing Youth Exchange Programs implementing the proposed "Program on Youth Friendship for the 21 "Century" for students in the Asia-Pacific countries, and promoting joint research projects between universities and research institutes of the Asia-Pacific countries;
Encourage APPF governments to adopt and support proposed exchange programs aimed at promoting joint research projects between universities and research institutes and to encourage institutions of higher learning in their respective countries to provide comprehensive educational assistance program to the youth;
Call upon APPF governments and parliaments to strengthen youth education by granting scholarships and improving training facilities of their esearch institutes, to establish intra-Asia-Pacific Youth Exchange Visit Programs; and for the implementation of the proposed "Program on Youth Friendship for the 21st Century;"
Encourage APPF governments to introduce and provide new curriculum such as peace studies and environmental studies so that young people can think and act as members of the world community in the 21st century and establish an interdisciplinary organization to design a common curriculum stressing the virtues of solidarity, democracy, and honesty.
